Vehicle accidents have become an increasing problem and no amount of legislation can replace sound diver judgement or awareness in curbing this growing trend, Alabama attorney Keith T. Belt says.

MOBILE, Alabama – 30-year-old Dontia Cody died Saturday morning as a result of a traffic accident at the intersection of Lott Road and University Boulevard, according to a news release by Prichard police.

Cody’s 2004 Toyota Corolla was struck by a “a large container truck belonging to Gulf Coast Container LLC, located in Theodore.” The truck was driven by Todd L. Sandel, 38. At 7:02 a.m., the vehicles collided and traveled approximately 150 feet, coming rest at the Church of Glory at 3825 Lott Rd., causing structural damage to the building, and Cody was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inatentive and reckless driving when behind the wheel of a large truck, normally causes major injury or death to other drivers unfortunate enough to be in its path. You can always practise defensive driving, but in this type of situation it is difficult to avoid the consequences of the other vehicle driver’s reckless activities.
